Hyderabad has become one of India's strongest cities for management education. It is home to a globally ranked one-year programme at ISB, a central university MBA, long-running PGDM institutes and newer private universities, all near a large hiring base in tech, consulting, pharma and financial services.

There is no IIM in Hyderabad, but many students still apply through CAT. Others apply through GMAT, XAT, NMAT, SNAP, MAT, CMAT or the state's TG ICET.

This guide compares the leading options. Every fee and placement figure below comes from the institute's own website, press release or official document, and the source is listed. If we could not verify a figure from an official source, we have left it out. Contact the institute before you make any financial decision.

How to Choose the Right MBA in Hyderabad

  1. Start with your exam. If you are taking CAT, look at UoH, IPE and IMT. With GMAT or GRE and work experience, ISB is the main option. NMAT leads to NMIMS, and SNAP leads to SIBM.
  2. Compare return on investment, not just salary. A ₹9 lakh programme with a ₹7 LPA average offers a very different return from a ₹40 lakh programme with a ₹37 LPA average.
  3. Read the full placement report. Averages can hide a lot. Look at the median, the percentage placed and the number of recruiters.
  4. Check approvals. PGDM programmes should be AICTE-approved. For a degree MBA, check the university's UGC status.
  5. Visit the campus if you can. Some Hyderabad campuses, such as Jadcherla and the outskirts locations, are a long way from the city centre.
