Over the years, CEED has evolved from a traditional paper-based test to a hybrid model. While Part A has become entirely digital to ensure objective assessment, Part B remains focused on hand-drawn sketches and creative thinking to evaluate the core artistic competencies of the candidates. The number of participating and result-sharing institutes has steadily increased, reflecting the growing demand for professional designers in India.

To be eligible for CEED 2026, candidates must meet the following criteria:

• Educational Qualification: Candidates must have completed a degree/diploma/postgraduate degree program of at least 3 years (after 10+2 level).
• Final Year Students: Those appearing for the final examination of such a program by July 2026 are also eligible.
• Age Limit: There is no age limit to appear for the CEED exam.
• Number of Attempts: A candidate can appear for CEED any number of times.

The application process for CEED 2026 is entirely online. Candidates must follow these steps:

1. Visit the official portal at ceed.iitb.ac.in.
2. Register using a valid email ID and mobile number.
3. Fill out the application form with personal and educational details.
4. Upload scanned documents including photograph, signature, and qualifying degree certificates.
5. Pay the application fee via net banking, credit card, or debit card.

The CEED examination evaluates candidates on several core subjects and skill sets, including:

Qualifying CEED is the first step. The admission process usually follows this sequence:

1. Appear for the CEED 2026 exam and obtain a valid score.
2. Apply separately to the M.Des programs of individual participating institutes (IITs/IISc).
3. Participate in the institute-specific Design Aptitude Test (DAT) or Interview if required.
4. Final selection is based on CEED score, portfolio, and interview performance.

The cut-off for CEED 2026 is determined by the difficulty of the paper and the performance of the candidates. There is a mandatory qualifying mark for Part A (usually denoted as 'mean + 0.5 * standard deviation' for the open category). Only those who meet the Part A cut-off will have their Part B evaluated and receive a merit rank.
