BITSAT is a highly competitive entrance exam conducted by BITS Pilani for admission to its undergraduate engineering (B.E.), pharmacy (B.Pharm), and science (M.Sc.) programs. The full form of BITSAT is Birla Institute of Technology and Science Admission Test.

Historically, BITSAT has evolved from a single-session paper to a multi-session computer-based test. In recent years, the exam pattern was updated from 150 questions to 130 questions to better align with student stress management. The introduction of two sessions allows candidates to improve their scores, with the best of two attempts being considered for the final merit list.

To be eligible for BITSAT 2026, candidates must meet the following criteria:

• Educational Qualification: Must have passed Class 12 from a recognized board in 2025 or appearing in 2026.
• Subject Requirements: Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics (for B.E.) or Biology (for B.Pharm) with English.
• Minimum Marks: At least 75% aggregate in PCM/PCB and at least 60% individually in each subject.
• Direct Admission: First rank holders of central and state boards are offered direct admission to their choice of program, regardless of their BITSAT score.

The application process is entirely online via the official BITS admission website:

BITSAT is the gateway to three primary campuses in India and one international campus:

BITSAT results are unique because the candidate's score is displayed on the computer screen immediately after the test is completed. A formal scorecard is released a few days after each session, which can be downloaded from the official website using login credentials.

After the results are declared, candidates must fill out the 'Admission Form' where they list their preferences for different degree programs across the three campuses. Based on the merit list and preferences, seat allotment rounds (Iterations) are conducted.

The counselling process (centralized for all campuses) consists of several 'Iterations'. Candidates are allotted seats based on their BITSAT score and branch preferences. If a candidate is not allotted their first choice, they may be placed on a waitlist for subsequent rounds.

Cut-offs vary by campus and branch. Generally, Computer Science (CS) at Pilani requires the highest score (often 320+), followed by Electronics and Communication (ECE). Historically, any score above 280 is considered competitive for top-tier branches across campuses.
