The National Institute of Technology (NIT) Jamshedpur has officially released the schedule for the NIT Master of Computer Applications Common Entrance Test (NIMCET) 2026. As the organizing institute for this year's entrance, NIT Jamshedpur has outlined a comprehensive timeline for the admission process across nine participating NITs. According to the notification released on March 15, 2026, the entrance examination will be conducted on June 14, 2026, in an online, center-based format.

The application process for NIMCET 2026 is set to commence on April 1, 2026, and will conclude on April 30, 2026. Eligible candidates must have a B.Sc / B.Sc (Hons) / BCA / BIT of a minimum three-year full-time duration with Mathematics/Statistics as one of the subjects, or a B.E./B.Tech degree from a recognized university. A minimum of 60% marks (or 6.5 CGPA) is required for General and OBC candidates, while SC/ST candidates need 55% marks (or 6.0 CGPA).

The NIMCET 2026 question paper will consist of 120 multiple-choice questions divided into four sections: Mathematics (50 questions), Analytical Ability & Logical Reasoning (40 questions), Computer Awareness (10 questions), and General English (20 questions). The Mathematics section continues to carry the highest weightage, with each correct answer fetching 12 marks, whereas other sections have different marking scales. This unique weighting system makes the Mathematics section the 'rank-decider' for most aspirants.

Following the examination, the results are expected to be declared by June 30, 2026. The subsequent counseling process will involve multiple rounds of seat allotment based on the NIMCET rank and the preferences filled by the candidates. Participating institutes include NITs at Agartala, Allahabad, Bhopal, Jamshedpur, Kurukshetra, Raipur, Surathkal, Tiruchirappalli, and Warangal. These institutes are highly regarded for their MCA programs, offering excellent placement opportunities in top-tier IT companies.

Candidates are advised to prepare their documents, including mark sheets, category certificates, and identity proofs, well in advance of the registration date. NIT Jamshedpur has also set up a dedicated portal for NIMCET 2026, which features a mock test link to help students familiarize themselves with the exam interface. 'We are committed to conducting a transparent and efficient entrance test to select the best talent for the MCA program,' said the Chairperson of the NIMCET 2026 committee.
