The National Testing Agency (NTA) has officially released the admit cards for the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) UG 2026, scheduled to take place on Sunday, May 3. Aspirants can now download their hall tickets from the official NTA NEET website by entering their application number and date of birth. The admit card contains vital information including the allotted exam center, reporting time, and the specific roll number assigned to the candidate. Over 24 lakh students have registered for the exam this year, marking a significant increase from 2025.

Along with the admit cards, the NTA has issued a comprehensive set of guidelines and a strict dress code that all candidates must adhere to. To prevent malpractice and ensure a fair examination, students are prohibited from wearing jewelry, watches, or clothing with large buttons or long sleeves. Only light-colored clothes with half sleeves are permitted. Footwear must consist of slippers or sandals with low heels; closed shoes are strictly forbidden inside the examination hall. These measures have become a standard part of the NEET protocol to maintain the sanctity of the medical entrance test.

Candidates are required to carry a printed copy of their admit card, a valid government-issued photo ID (such as an Aadhaar card or Passport), and a passport-sized photograph to be pasted on the attendance sheet. The NTA has also clarified that a proforma with a postcard-sized photograph must be downloaded along with the admit card and brought to the center. Failure to produce these documents will result in the candidate being barred from the examination. Reporting times have been staggered to avoid overcrowding at the entry gates, and students are advised to reach their centers at least two hours before the commencement of the exam.

This year's NEET UG will be conducted in 13 languages, including English, Hindi, and various regional languages like Tamil, Telugu, and Bengali, across 500+ cities in India and several international locations. The exam will consist of 200 multiple-choice questions (of which 180 must be answered) from Physics, Chemistry, and Biology (Botany and Zoology). The duration of the test remains 3 hours and 20 minutes, giving students a slight buffer to manage the increased number of options provided in Section B of each subject.

Academic experts suggest that the final two weeks should be dedicated to revision and solving full-length mock tests in the actual exam time slot (2:00 PM to 5:20 PM). 'Consistency is key at this stage. Students should focus on their weak areas in Biology and ensure they have a solid grasp of NCERT concepts, as a majority of the questions are derived directly from these textbooks,' says Dr. Vikram Mehta, a leading medical entrance coach. He also emphasizes the importance of staying hydrated and maintaining a healthy sleep cycle during the final countdown.

The NEET UG 2026 results will be the sole gateway for admissions to MBBS, BDS, AYUSH, and BSc Nursing courses in all medical colleges across India, including AIIMS and JIPMER. With the competition becoming stiffer each year, the cutoff scores are expected to remain high. The NTA has set up a 24/7 helpdesk to assist students with any technical issues they might face while downloading their admit cards or locating their exam centers.
