JEE Advanced 2026: IIT Kanpur Opens Registration Portal for Top 2.5 Lakh JEE Main Qualifiers

The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kanpur has officially opened the online registration window for the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Advanced 2026. This follows the recent declaration of the JEE Main Session 2 results, where the top 2,50,000 candidates across various categories were declared eligible to sit for the prestigious engineering entrance test. Eligible candidates can now log in to the official portal using their JEE Main application number and password to complete the registration process, which includes uploading documents and paying the requisite examination fee.
According to the official notification, the registration window will remain open until April 30, 2026, while the fee payment facility will be available until May 1. IIT Kanpur has emphasized that no extensions will be granted given the tight schedule leading up to the exam date scheduled for late May. The institute has also introduced a revised interface for the application portal this year to ensure a smoother experience for students in remote areas with lower internet speeds, reflecting a commitment to digital accessibility.
Candidates must ensure they meet the specific eligibility criteria, which includes the 'Two Attempts in Two Consecutive Years' rule. This year, the board has also clarified the documentation required for the EWS and OBC-NCL categories, mandating that certificates must be issued on or after April 1, 2026, to be valid for the current admission cycle. Students are advised to double-check their category certificates before uploading to avoid any last-minute discrepancies during the counseling phase.
The JEE Advanced 2026 will consist of two mandatory papers, Paper 1 and Paper 2, both of which will be conducted in a Computer Based Test (CBT) mode. 'We have partnered with several high-tech centers across India to ensure a seamless and fair examination process. Our focus is on maintaining the highest standards of security and transparency,' she said in a press release.
