Quick answer: In Karnataka you can get into an MBA through three routes: national exams (CAT, XAT, CMAT, MAT) for IIM Bangalore, IISc, NIT Karnataka and top private colleges; KMAT, held on 14 November 2026, for over 189 private colleges; and Karnataka PGCET, run by KEA, for government-quota seats.

The three routes to an MBA in Karnataka

  • KMAT 2026: run by the Karnataka Private Post Graduate Colleges Association. Exam on Saturday 14 November 2026, 10 AM to 12 PM (online registration closed 31 October). Over 189 AICTE-approved management institutes in Bengaluru and Karnataka accept it, for both all-India and Karnataka candidates.
  • Karnataka PGCET: run by the Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA) for MBA, MCA, ME/M.Tech and M.Arch. In 2026, online registration opened in late March and was extended to 30 April, and the MBA/MCA paper was held in June (pen and paper, 100 MCQs). Expect a similar timeline for 2027 (to be confirmed by KEA).
  • National exams: CAT, XAT, CMAT and MAT. Needed for IIM Bangalore, IISc and NIT Karnataka, and accepted by most private B-schools.
