MBA Admission 2027: Entrance Exams, Dates, Eligibility
Quick answer: To join an MBA or PGDM starting in 2027, you need a bachelor's degree (usually at least 50%, 45% for SC/ST/PwD) and a score in an entrance exam such as CAT, XAT, CMAT, MAT, SNAP or a state exam. Colleges shortlist on the score, then hold a written test, group discussion or interview before making offers.

Eligibility
- A bachelor's degree of at least 3 years in any subject.
- Most colleges ask for at least 50% marks (45% for SC, ST and PwD). Some IIMs ask for more. For example, IIM Kozhikode asked for 60% in graduation for its 2026-28 batch.
- Final-year students can usually apply if they finish their degree before the course starts.
- There is no age limit for CAT.
How selection works
- Step 1: Take the exam and apply to each college separately (most IIMs share one CAT form).
- Step 2: Colleges make a shortlist using your exam score, and often your 10th, 12th and degree marks and work experience.
- Step 3: Shortlisted candidates take a written ability test (WAT) or group discussion (GD), plus a personal interview (PI).
- Step 4: Final offers combine the interview, the written test, the exam score and your profile. For example, IIM Bangalore's 2027-29 final score gives 40 marks to the interview, 25 to CAT and 10 to the written test.
