The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi has officially released the detailed notification for the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Advanced 2026. According to the official schedule, the online registration process is set to commence on April 27, 2026, and will conclude on May 10, 2026. This announcement comes as a crucial update for lakhs of engineering aspirants across the country who have recently appeared for the JEE Main sessions in January and April.

To be eligible for JEE Advanced 2026, candidates must rank among the top 2,50,000 successful candidates (including all categories) in the B.E./B.Tech. paper of JEE Main 2026. The distribution of these candidates across various categories follows the reservation norms set by the Government of India, including 10% for GEN-EWS, 27% for OBC-NCL, 15% for SC, and 7.5% for ST. Additionally, horizontal reservation of 5% is provided for PwD candidates within each category.

IIT Delhi has emphasized that the exam will consist of two mandatory papers: Paper 1 and Paper 2, both of which will be held on June 2, 2026. The morning shift is scheduled from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM, followed by the afternoon shift from 2:30 PM to 5:30 PM. Both papers are compulsory, and failure to appear in either will result in the candidate being disqualified from the ranking process. The exam will be conducted in a fully Computer Based Test (CBT) mode in various centers across India and selected international locations.

Candidates are advised to keep their documents ready, including Class 10 and 12 certificates, category certificates (if applicable), and the JEE Main 2026 scorecard. The registration fee for Indian nationals remains at INR 3,200 for general candidates and INR 1,600 for female and reserved category candidates. Payment can be made through various digital modes including UPI, Net Banking, and Credit/Debit cards.

Experts suggest that the difficulty level for JEE Advanced 2026 is expected to remain consistent with previous years, focusing heavily on conceptual clarity and application of principles in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics. IIT Delhi has also launched a dedicated mock test portal on the official website to help students familiarize themselves with the CBT interface. Students are encouraged to practice these tests to manage their time effectively during the actual examination.
