The Indian Institute of Management Bangalore (IIMB) has officially opened applications for its newly designed Executive Programme in Digital Transformation and Artificial Intelligence (EPDTAI) for the 2026-27 academic year. Recognizing the rapid shift in the global business landscape, the institute aims to equip mid-to-senior level managers with the skills necessary to lead AI-driven initiatives within their organizations. The programme is structured as a hybrid model, combining intensive on-campus modules with interactive online sessions to accommodate working professionals.

During the launch event, the Director of IIM Bangalore highlighted the necessity of this curriculum. 'We are witnessing a paradigm shift where management is no longer just about optimizing resources but about navigating a world defined by data and algorithms. Our new programme doesn't just teach the technical aspects of AI but focuses on the strategic implementation and ethical considerations of digital transformation,' he said. The curriculum includes modules on Machine Learning for Business, Blockchain Applications, Ethical AI, and Change Management in the Digital Era.

Eligibility for the programme requires a minimum of five years of professional work experience and a recognized undergraduate degree. The selection process will involve a rigorous review of the candidate's professional achievements followed by a personal interview. Interestingly, IIMB has announced that it will not require a GMAT or CAT score for this specific executive certificate, focusing instead on the 'Statement of Purpose' and the candidate's leadership potential. This move is seen as an attempt to attract a more diverse cohort from non-traditional backgrounds such as healthcare and public policy.

Industry experts have lauded the timing of the launch. Rahul Deshmukh, a senior partner at a global consulting firm, noted, 'There is a massive talent gap at the leadership level when it comes to understanding AI. Most executives know AI is important, but they don't know how to integrate it into their business model. This course from IIMB addresses that specific pain point.' He added that such certifications are becoming increasingly valuable for professionals seeking to move into Chief Digital Officer (CDO) roles.

Applications are set to close on May 15, 2026, with the first batch expected to commence in July. The total programme fee is set at INR 12.5 lakhs, which includes tuition, course materials, and accommodation during the on-campus segments. Financial aid and corporate sponsorship options are also being made available to eligible candidates. Prospective students can find the detailed brochure and application link on the IIMB Executive Education portal. With the first batch limited to just 60 seats, competition is expected to be fierce.
