The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) is expected to announce the results for the Class 10 and Class 12 board examinations for the 2025-26 academic session by May 12, 2026. According to senior officials at the board's headquarters in New Delhi, the evaluation of answer scripts is nearly 95% complete. This year, the board has utilized an automated portal to streamline the marks entry process, which has significantly reduced the time required for data processing. Over 35 lakh students appeared for the exams this year, which were conducted between February and April.

In alignment with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, the 2026 results will feature a more comprehensive mark sheet. While the traditional marks and grades will be present, the board is also including a 'Skill Assessment' section for students who opted for vocational subjects. This move is intended to provide a more holistic view of a student's capabilities beyond rote memorization. The CBSE has also decided to continue its policy of not releasing an official merit list to discourage unhealthy competition among students, focusing instead on individual performance improvements.

Students will be able to access their results through multiple platforms, including the official CBSE website, the Pariksha Sangam portal, and the DigiLocker app. The board has also partnered with the Umang app to ensure that the heavy traffic on result day does not lead to website crashes. To access the digital mark sheets, students will need their roll number, school number, and the admit card ID. The board has already dispatched the security pins for DigiLocker to the respective schools, which students can collect from their class teachers.

For students who may not be satisfied with their scores, the CBSE has outlined a clear timeline for the verification and re-evaluation process. The application window for marks verification will open three days after the result declaration. Following this, students can request a photocopy of their evaluated answer books and subsequently apply for re-evaluation of specific questions. The board has also scheduled the 'Supplementary Exams' for July 2026 to allow students who failed in one or two subjects to improve their performance and save an academic year.

Schools across the country are already preparing for post-result counseling. The CBSE has launched a dedicated tele-helpline featuring trained psychologists and counselors to support students and parents dealing with result-related stress. Educationists have lauded the board's efforts to make the evaluation process more transparent and student-friendly. As the countdown begins, the atmosphere in schools is a mix of anticipation and nervous energy, marking the end of one academic chapter and the beginning of higher education journeys for millions.
