The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) Class 12 examinations for the academic year 2025-26 are currently in full swing, with major subjects for the Science and Commerce streams having been completed. As of March 15, 2026, students have already appeared for English, Physics, and Chemistry. The feedback from various examination centers across Delhi, Mumbai, and Bangalore suggests a mixed reaction to the paper patterns, which have increasingly emphasized competency-based and application-oriented questions over rote memorization.

The Physics paper, conducted earlier this week, was described by many students as 'challenging yet fair.' A significant portion of the paper was dedicated to numerical problems and case-study-based questions, which required a deep understanding of conceptual frameworks. Teachers from leading Kendriya Vidyalayas noted that while the paper followed the NCERT curriculum strictly, the indirect nature of the questions tested the students' analytical skills. 'It wasn't a paper you could score full marks in just by mugging up formulas,' said Mr. Rajesh Khanna, a senior Physics HOD.

In contrast, the Chemistry paper was received with a sigh of relief by the majority of candidates. Students reported that the Organic Chemistry section was straightforward, and the Physical Chemistry calculations were manageable within the allotted three hours. The board has been proactive this year in ensuring that the difficulty level remains balanced across different sets of question papers to maintain parity. CBSE officials have also reiterated that the evaluation process will be liberal for questions that were found to be ambiguous or technically complex.

To ensure the integrity of the exams, the CBSE has deployed 'Flying Squads' and utilized AI-driven CCTV monitoring in sensitive centers. This year, the board has also introduced a digital tracking system for the movement of question papers and answer sheets to prevent any leaks. Despite the high pressure, the board's psychological counseling helpline has seen a 20% decrease in calls compared to last year, suggesting that students are better prepared for the evolving exam format.

The exams for Mathematics and Biology are scheduled for the coming week. Students are advised to utilize the gap days for revision and to focus on the sample papers released by the board in late 2025. Results for the Class 12 boards are expected to be announced by the second week of May 2026, allowing students sufficient time to prepare for entrance exams like NEET and CUET.
