If you want to study architecture in Hyderabad, your options are narrower than for engineering, and that is useful. Every B.Arch seat in the state's convener counselling sits in one of nine colleges, all affiliated to Jawaharlal Nehru Architecture and Fine Arts University (JNAFAU). Their tuition fees are fixed by the government and published by the Telangana Council of Higher Education (TGCHE).

This guide lists those colleges with the official 2026-27 fee and intake, explains how your NATA or JEE Main Paper 2A score turns into a State Architecture Rank (SAR), and walks through the TG B.Arch counselling process.

B.Arch Colleges in Hyderabad: Fees and Intake 2026-27

This list comes from TGCHE's List of Colleges, Intake along with Fee Structure 2026-27 (Revised), published on the official B.Arch admissions portal. Fees are annual tuition fees as listed by TGCHE; hostel, transport and other charges are extra.

  • JNAFAU School of Planning and Architecture (Regular), Masab Tank area: 45 seats (incl. 5 GOI nominee), 100% convener quota. Fee ₹35,000
  • JNAFAU School of Planning and Architecture (Self-Supporting Scheme), same campus: 40 seats, 100% convener quota. Fee ₹75,000
  • School of Architecture, CSI Institute of Technology, Secunderabad: 80 seats (56 convener / 24 management). Fee ₹85,000
  • Sri Venkateswara College of Architecture, Madhapur: 120 seats (84 / 36). Fee ₹65,000
  • Vaishnavi School of Architecture and Planning, Madhapur (Kavuri Hills): 80 seats (56 / 24). Fee ₹95,200
  • Deccan School of Planning and Architecture, Nampally: 40 seats (28 / 12). Fee ₹77,000
  • School of Planning and Architecture, JNIAS, Sheriguda, Ibrahimpatnam: 40 seats (28 / 12). Fee ₹65,000
  • J.B.R. Architecture College, Moinabad: 80 seats (56 / 24). Fee ₹85,000
  • Aurora's Design Academy, Bandlaguda, Chandrayangutta: 30 seats (21 / 9). Fee ₹80,000
  • Ashoka School of Planning and Architecture, Malkapur, near Ramoji Film City (Choutuppal): 80 seats (56 / 24). Fee ₹1,32,000

JNAFAU SPA appears twice because it runs a regular stream and a self-supporting stream with different fees. Addresses are from JNAFAU's affiliated colleges list.

Quick reading of the list:

  • Cheapest seat: JNAFAU SPA regular stream at ₹35,000, and it is 100% convener quota, so it is also the most competitive.
  • Most expensive: Ashoka School of Planning and Architecture at ₹1,32,000.
  • Largest intake: Sri Venkateswara College of Architecture (120 seats).
  • Closest to the IT corridor: Sri Venkateswara and Vaishnavi, both in Madhapur.

About COA approval

The Council of Architecture (COA) rules state that no admitting authority may admit students to an architecture programme that lacks COA approval for that year. All the colleges above are on TGCHE's 2026-27 counselling list and JNAFAU's affiliated list. Before paying fees, confirm the college's current COA approval letter (colleges usually display it on their website or notice board).

Colleges in Focus

JNAFAU School of Planning and Architecture

The university's own constituent school, on its central Hyderabad campus alongside the College of Fine Arts. It is the only government-run option, with the lowest fee in the state and no management quota. Expect the highest SAR cutoffs here.

Private colleges in the city

  • CSI Institute of Technology (Secunderabad): one of the older names, also offers M.Arch.
  • Sri Venkateswara College of Architecture (Madhapur): largest intake, plus M.Arch in Interior Design.
  • Vaishnavi School of Architecture and Planning (Madhapur): central-west location.
  • Deccan School of Planning and Architecture (Nampally): small 40-seat batch in the old city side.
  • Aurora's Design Academy (Bandlaguda): smallest batch at 30 seats; also offers M.Arch (Interior Design, Urban Design).

Colleges on the city edge

  • JBR Architecture College (Moinabad) and JNIAS School of Planning and Architecture (Ibrahimpatnam) are on the outskirts; check transport.
  • Ashoka School of Planning and Architecture is near Ramoji Film City on the Vijayawada highway, technically in Yadadri Bhuvanagiri district.

Eligibility for B.Arch in Telangana

As per TGCHE's Instructions to the Candidates 2026-27:

  1. 10+2 with Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects plus one of Chemistry, Biology, a technical vocational subject, Computer Science, IT, Informatics Practices, Engineering Graphics or Business Studies, with at least 45% aggregate; or a 10+3 diploma with Mathematics, with at least 45%.
  2. A valid score in NATA (conducted by the Council of Architecture) or JEE Main Paper 2A (B.Arch, conducted by NTA).

For 2026, TGCHE noted that NATA 2026 prescribed no minimum raw score to qualify, and that NATA 2025 holders who had not taken B.Arch admission could use their 2025 scorecard.

Local quota: 85% of seats are reserved for local candidates (Osmania University region) and 15% are unreserved.

How Your State Architecture Rank (SAR) Is Calculated

This is the part most students miss. TG B.Arch admission is not decided by NATA alone. TGCHE builds a State Architecture Rank:

SAR score = 50% weightage to 10+2 marks + 50% weightage to the higher of your JEE Main Paper 2A or NATA score.

  • 10+2 component (out of 50): your 10+2 percentage divided by 2.
  • Entrance component (out of 50): JEE Paper 2A score divided by 8 (400 → 50) or NATA score divided by 4 (200 → 50), whichever is higher.

Example: a student with 90% in 10+2 and 120/200 in NATA scores 45 + 30 = 75 out of 100.

So what is the NATA cutoff? TGCHE does not publish a NATA cutoff for each college. Seats are allotted by SAR, so your board marks matter as much as your entrance score. Taking both NATA and JEE Paper 2A gives you two chances at the higher entrance component.

NATA vs JEE Main Paper 2A at a Glance

  • Conducted by: NATA by the Council of Architecture; JEE Main Paper 2A by the National Testing Agency
  • Total marks: NATA 200; JEE Paper 2A 400
  • Structure: NATA has Part A drawing (80 marks, offline, 90 min) + Part B MCQ/NCQ (120 marks, computer-based, 90 min). JEE Paper 2A has Maths (100) + Aptitude (200) + Drawing (100, on paper) in 3 hours
  • 2026 window: NATA 20 March – 23 May 2026, plus an additional August 2026 exam; JEE Paper 2A in Session 1 (January) and Session 2 (April)
  • Divisor in TG SAR: NATA ÷ 4; JEE Paper 2A ÷ 8
