Indian Institute of Information Technology, UNA

Indian Institute of Information Technology (IIIT) Una is one of the 20 IIITs established by the Ministry of Education, Government of India, under the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model. For the year 2026, it continues to establish itself as a premier technical institute in North India. Located in the serene environment of Saloh, Una, Himachal Pradesh, the institute offers a unique blend of academic excellence and natural beauty.

• Establishment: 2014
• Status: Institute of National Importance
• Mode: Public-Private Partnership (MoE, Govt. of HP, and Industry Partners)
• Campus: Permanent campus at Saloh, Una (fully operational)
• Connectivity: Well-connected via the Una Himachal Railway Station and nearby airports at Chandigarh and Kangra.
• Focus: Advanced research in Information Technology and Electronics.

IIIT Una focuses on specialized engineering disciplines that cater to the evolving tech industry. The most sought-after programs for the 2026 academic session include:

• B.Tech in Computer Science and Engineering (CSE): The flagship program focusing on AI, Machine Learning, and Software Development.
• B.Tech in Information Technology (IT): Emphasizes network security, database management, and web technologies.
• B.Tech in Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE): Focuses on VLSI design, embedded systems, and communication networks.

The curriculum is updated annually to include industry-relevant subjects like Quantum Computing and IoT.

Admission to IIIT Una is strictly based on national-level entrance examinations. For 2026, the process follows the standard JoSAA/CSAB regulations.

Candidates must qualify for the JEE Main and participate in the JoSAA (Joint Seat Allocation Authority) counseling process. There are no management quota seats available.

Note: Check exact dates on the official exam and college websites.

Note: These are approximate figures based on past trends, not official cutoffs. Check the latest official counselling cutoff before applying.

The 2026 cutoffs will depend on the difficulty level of JEE Main and the number of applicants. Below are the expected closing ranks (General Category - Gender Neutral) based on recent trends:

• Computer Science and Engineering: 22,000 - 28,000
• Information Technology: 28,000 - 34,000
• Electronics and Communication Engineering: 35,000 - 42,000

Ranks are highly competitive, and students from Himachal Pradesh do not have a separate state quota as it is a central institute, though female supernumerary seats apply.

Note: Placement figures are indicative and not taken from the official placement report of the college. Please confirm with the college.

The placement season of 2025 saw robust participation from the tech industry despite global market fluctuations. The institute maintains a dedicated cell to bridge the gap between Una and major tech hubs like Bangalore and Gurgaon.
