The National Testing Agency (NTA) has officially opened the correction window for the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET-UG) 2026. This announcement comes as a relief to thousands of medical aspirants who had reported making clerical errors during the initial registration process. Candidates who have successfully submitted their applications and paid the requisite fee can now log in to the official NTA website to make necessary changes to their forms. The correction facility will remain active until 11:50 PM on March 25, 2026.

According to the NTA guidelines, candidates are allowed to modify specific fields such as their name, contact details, category, sub-category, educational qualification details, and the choice of exam city. However, certain fields like the registered mobile number and email address remain non-editable for security reasons. If the change in category results in a higher application fee, the candidate will be required to pay the difference via online payment modes before the changes are saved. Conversely, no refund will be provided if the fee for the new category is lower.

With over 22 lakh students registered for NEET UG 2026, the competition for the approximately 1.1 lakh MBBS seats and 27,000 BDS seats is expected to be more intense than ever. The NTA has emphasized that this is a one-time facility and no further opportunities for correction will be provided under any circumstances. Candidates are urged to double-check their uploaded documents, particularly their photographs and signatures, to ensure they meet the prescribed specifications to avoid rejection at the exam center.

'Accuracy in the application form is paramount, as the details provided here will be reflected on the admit card and the final scorecard,' said Dr. S.K. Verma, a medical education consultant. 'We often see students facing issues during counseling because their category or spelling in the NEET form doesn't match their Class 12 certificates. This correction window is the perfect time to rectify those discrepancies.' The NTA has also integrated an Aadhaar-based verification system to further streamline the process and prevent impersonation.

The NEET UG 2026 examination is scheduled to be held on May 3, 2026, in a pen-and-paper (offline) mode across more than 500 cities in India and several cities abroad. The exam will be conducted in 13 languages, including English, Hindi, and various regional languages. Following the closure of the correction window, the NTA will begin the process of exam city allotment, followed by the release of admit cards in the third week of April.

Students are advised to continue their preparation with a focus on the NCERT syllabus, which remains the cornerstone of the NEET examination. Mock tests and previous year question papers should be the primary focus in these final weeks. The NTA has also set up a dedicated helpdesk and email support to assist candidates who encounter technical difficulties while using the correction portal.
