The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi, the organizing body for the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Advanced 2026, has officially released the detailed notification for the upcoming engineering entrance test. According to the official schedule, the online registration process for candidates who qualify based on their JEE Main performance will commence on April 27, 2026. Aspirants will have a window of approximately ten days to complete their applications, with the closing date set for May 7, 2026. The examination itself is scheduled to be conducted on June 7, 2026, in two mandatory shifts.

To be eligible for the JEE Advanced, candidates must rank among the top 2,50,000 successful candidates (including all categories) in the JEE Main 2026 Paper 1. IIT Delhi officials have emphasized that the registration fee remains unchanged from the previous year, though candidates are advised to keep digital copies of their category certificates, Class 10 and 12 mark sheets, and photographs ready to avoid last-minute technical hurdles. The registration portal will be hosted on the official JEE Advanced website, which has been upgraded to handle high traffic volumes expected during the peak hours.

Prof. Rajesh Khanna, the organizing chairperson, stated that this year’s exam will maintain its rigorous standards while ensuring a fair distribution of questions across the physics, chemistry, and mathematics domains. 'We are focusing on conceptual clarity and application-based problems that truly test the analytical depth of the students,' he said during a press briefing. He also noted that the number of exam centers has been increased in rural areas to facilitate easier access for students from remote districts, aligning with the government's push for inclusive education.

Students are reminded that the JEE Advanced consists of two papers, both of which are compulsory. Paper 1 will be held from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM, followed by Paper 2 from 2:30 PM to 5:30 PM. The results are tentatively expected to be announced by the last week of June, followed immediately by the Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) counseling process. This counseling will determine admissions into the 23 IITs across the country, as well as other premier institutes like ISM Dhanbad.

In addition to the registration dates, the brochure highlights specific guidelines for Overseas Citizens of India (OCI) and Person of Indian Origin (PIO) candidates. Under the new regulations, these candidates will be treated as foreign nationals and will be considered for seats outside the ambit of the Common Rank List (CRL), provided they meet the requisite academic criteria. Candidates are encouraged to download the information brochure immediately and read the 'Frequently Asked Questions' section to clarify any doubts regarding the reservation policy and the scribe facility for PwD candidates.
