The National Testing Agency (NTA) officially released the results for the Common University Entrance Test for Postgraduates (CUET PG) 2026 today, March 25. The results are now available on the official portal, pgcuet.samarth.ac.in. This year, approximately 4.5 lakh candidates appeared for the entrance test, which serves as a single-window opportunity for admission into more than 180 participating universities, including prominent institutions like Delhi University (DU), Banaras Hindu University (BHU), and Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU).

The CUET PG 2026 was conducted in multiple shifts over a period of two weeks in March. The NTA has released the results in the form of normalized scores, using the multi-session equipercentile method to ensure fairness across different difficulty levels of question papers. Along with the scorecards, the agency has also published the final answer keys, which were finalized after reviewing the challenges raised by candidates against the provisional keys released last week.

Following the declaration of results, the focus now shifts to the individual universities. Unlike the entrance test, the counseling process is not centralized. Each participating university will release its own merit list and counseling schedule based on the CUET scores. For instance, Delhi University is expected to open its Common Seat Allocation System (CSAS-PG) portal by early April. Candidates are required to register separately on the admission portals of the universities they are interested in, using their CUET application numbers.

Dr. Ananya Iyer, an admissions expert, noted that the competition for popular courses like M.A. Economics, M.Sc. Physics, and MBA has intensified this year. 'With more private and deemed universities joining the CUET fold, the scores have become the primary currency for PG admissions in India. We are seeing a trend where students are applying to a wider range of institutions to secure their spots,' she observed. The NTA has also shared the data of successful candidates with the respective universities to facilitate a smooth admission process.

Candidates are advised to download and print their scorecards immediately, as they will be required during the physical verification of documents at the time of admission. The scorecard contains the candidate's raw score as well as the percentile score for each subject they appeared in. The NTA has clarified that it has no role in the seat allotment process or the determination of cut-off marks, which remain the sole prerogative of the admitting universities.

For those who have not qualified or are unhappy with their scores, several universities still offer independent entrance exams or merit-based admissions for specific niche programs. However, for the majority of central universities, the CUET PG remains the mandatory route. The NTA has also provided a grievance redressal mechanism for candidates who might find technical discrepancies in their scorecards, though they have emphasized that the evaluation process is highly automated and error-free.
