The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has officially moved into the next phase of the 2026 academic cycle as the evaluation of Class 12 answer sheets began today, March 24, 2026. Over 3,500 evaluation centers have been set up across the country, involving more than 1.5 lakh experienced teachers. This massive exercise is being conducted under strict supervision to ensure accuracy and fairness in the marking process.

To maintain the integrity of the results, CBSE has implemented a multi-tier checking system. Each answer script will undergo a primary evaluation by an assigned examiner, followed by a review by a 'Head Examiner' and a final verification by a 'Coordinator'. This year, the board has also introduced an AI-assisted data entry system to minimize manual errors during the uploading of marks to the central server. This move is expected to reduce the instances of 'zero marks' or 'absent' entries that have occasionally plagued previous result cycles.

CBSE Chairperson, Mrs. Vineeta Singh, stated in a press briefing that the board is committed to releasing the results earlier than last year. "Our priority is to ensure that students can participate in university entrance exams and admission processes without any stress regarding their board scores. We are targeting a release date between May 10 and May 15, 2026," she said. The board has also instructed evaluators to follow a 'lenient yet fair' marking scheme, especially for questions that were identified as high-difficulty during the feedback session with subject experts.

For the 2026 session, over 18 lakh students appeared for the Class 12 examinations. The board is also continuing its policy of not releasing a 'Toppers List' to curb unhealthy competition and reduce academic pressure on students. Instead, the board will issue merit certificates to the top 0.1% of students in each subject. Students will be able to access their results via the official website, SMS, and the DigiLocker app, which will also serve as the primary source for digital marksheet and migration certificates.

Schools have been directed to ensure that internal assessment marks and practical marks are uploaded by the end of this week. Any delay from the school's side could lead to the withholding of results for their respective students. Parents and students are advised not to fall for rumors regarding result dates and to rely solely on official notifications from the cbse.gov.in portal.
