The CA Final examination is the concluding level of the Chartered Accountancy course in India, conducted by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI). For the 2026 session, the exam continues to follow the New Scheme of Education and Training.

The CA Final exams for 2026 are expected to follow the traditional cycle. Below is the tentative schedule:

• May 2026 Cycle: Registration closes on January 1, 2026. Exams are likely to be held between May 2 and May 16, 2026.
• November 2026 Cycle: Registration closes on July 1, 2026. Exams are likely to be held between November 1 and November 15, 2026.
• Admit Card Release: Generally 14 days before the commencement of exams.

CA Final is the third and last stage of the Chartered Accountancy curriculum. It is designed to test the advanced technical knowledge and professional skills of candidates. Passing this exam, along with the completion of mandatory practical training (Articleship), qualifies a candidate to become a Chartered Accountant and a member of ICAI.

The full form of CA Final is the Chartered Accountancy Final Examination. It represents the pinnacle of professional accounting education in India, recognized globally for its rigorous standards.

Over the years, the CA Final exam has evolved significantly. In 2024, ICAI fully transitioned to the New Scheme, reducing the number of papers from eight to six. The 2026 exams will continue this trend, emphasizing Integrated Business Solutions and multidisciplinary case studies to align with global accounting standards.

To be eligible for the CA Final 2026 exam, candidates must meet the following criteria:

• Must have passed both groups of the CA Intermediate examination.
• Must have completed the prescribed period of Practical Training (Articleship) or be within the eligible window as per ICAI norms.
• Must have completed the Advanced Integrated Course on Information Technology and Soft Skills (AICITSS).
• Must have cleared the Self-Paced Online Modules as required under the New Scheme.

The application process is entirely online through the Self Service Portal (SSP) of ICAI:

1. Log in to the SSP portal using your student credentials.
2. Fill out the exam form for the May or November 2026 session.
3. Upload required documents, including proof of completion of articleship.
4. Pay the examination fee (approx. ₹3300 for both groups).
5. Download and save the PDF of the submitted application.

Under the New Scheme applicable for 2026, there are two groups with three papers each:

• Paper 1: Financial Reporting
• Paper 2: Advanced Financial Management
• Paper 3: Advanced Auditing, Assurance and Professional Ethics

• Paper 4: Direct Tax Laws & International Taxation
• Paper 5: Indirect Tax Laws
• Paper 6: Integrated Business Solutions (Multidisciplinary Case Study)

The CA Final 2026 syllabus focuses on high-level application and synthesis. Key areas include Ind AS (Indian Accounting Standards), strategic financial decision-making, professional ethics, and comprehensive tax planning. Paper 6 is unique as it is an open-book, multi-disciplinary case study exam that tests knowledge across all subjects.

• Question Format: 30% Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) and 70% Descriptive questions for all papers.
• Negative Marking: No negative marking for MCQs.

Admission to the CA Final level involves registration after passing the Intermediate level. Once registered, students must complete their practical training. Before appearing for the exam, they must submit the Exam Form during the specified window for the 2026 sessions. Only students with a valid admit card issued by ICAI are admitted to the exam hall.

The CA Final is a professional certification conducted exclusively by the ICAI. It is not a university-based degree. However, the Association of Indian Universities (AIU) recognizes the CA qualification as equivalent to a Post Graduate degree for the purpose of pursuing a Ph.D. or appearing in competitive exams.

Results for the 2026 exams are typically declared within two months of the last exam date:

• May 2026 Results: Expected in mid-July 2026.
• November 2026 Results: Expected in early January 2027.
• Results can be accessed on icai.nic.in.

After successfully clearing both groups of CA Final and completing all training requirements:

• Apply for Membership of ICAI to use the prefix 'CA'.
• Participate in ICAI Campus Placements.
• Explore career opportunities in Auditing, Taxation, Investment Banking, or Management Consultancy.
• Option to start independent practice as a proprietor or partner.

ICAI does not have a traditional 'counselling' process like engineering or medical exams. Instead, it conducts Campus Placement Programs twice a year for newly qualified CAs. Top firms like the Big 4, PSU banks, and multinational corporations participate to recruit fresh talent.

The passing criteria for CA Final 2026 are fixed by ICAI:

• Per Paper: Minimum 40% marks.
• Aggregate: Minimum 50% marks in a group (or both groups if appearing together).
• If a candidate scores 60% or more in a paper, they may be eligible for an Exemption in that paper for the next three attempts.
