Over the decades, the exam has evolved from a paper-based format to a sophisticated Computer Based Test (CBT). In recent years, the exam structure has been refined to include an Essay Writing section and a dedicated General Knowledge component, ensuring a holistic evaluation of the candidate's profile beyond mere mathematical skills.

The eligibility criteria for XAT 2026 are as follows:

The XAT 2026 examination covers the following core subject areas:
