The Tripura Board of Secondary Education (TBSE) is the primary state-level board of education in the Indian state of Tripura. It is responsible for the promotion and development of secondary and higher secondary education in the state. The Tripura Board of Secondary Education was established in 1973 under the Tripura Board of Secondary Education Act, passed by the Tripura Legislative Assembly. However, the board only started functioning effectively from January 1, 1976.

Before the formation of TBSE, schools in Tripura were affiliated with the West Bengal Board of Secondary Education. The creation of a dedicated state board allowed for a curriculum that better reflected the local culture and educational needs of the students in Tripura.

TBSE's jurisdiction is limited to the state of Tripura. It oversees a wide network of schools including:

Most schools in Agartala and other districts like West Tripura, South Tripura, and Dhalai follow the TBSE curriculum for their secondary and higher secondary levels.

The Class 10 examination, known as the Madhyamik Pariksha, is a crucial milestone for students. The exam pattern includes:

• Subjects: Language I (Bengali/Kokborok/Hindi/Mizo), Language II (English), Mathematics, Science, and Social Science.

The Higher Secondary (+2 Stage) Examination covers three main streams: Arts, Science, and Commerce. The pattern includes:

• Electives: Based on the chosen stream (e.g., Physics, Chemistry, Biology for Science; Accountancy, Business Studies for Commerce).

The TBSE 2026 Exam Schedule is expected to follow the traditional timeline. Based on previous trends, the board usually releases the date sheet in December 2025.

To appear for the TBSE 2026 exams, students must meet the following criteria:

• Regular Students: Must have successfully completed the previous class (Class 9 for Madhyamik, Class 11 for HS) from a TBSE-affiliated school and maintained the required attendance.
• Private Candidates: Students who have a gap in their education or are appearing independently must register through the prescribed board process.
• Registration: Registration usually happens through the school portal. Students must provide valid identification (Aadhar card), photographs, and the requisite examination fee.

The TBSE results are generally announced in May or June. Students can check their scores on the official results portal.

Passing Criteria:

• Students must obtain a minimum of 30% marks in each individual subject.
• In subjects with practicals, students must pass both theory and practical components separately.
• Students who fail in one or two subjects may be eligible for the Bachar Bachao (Save a Year) supplementary exams.
