The Punjab School Education Board (PSEB) is a statutory body headquartered in SAS Nagar (Mohali), Punjab. It was established to manage and regulate the curriculum and examinations for public schools in the state of Punjab. The board is responsible for conducting standardized examinations at the Middle, Matriculation, and Senior Secondary levels.

Founded in 1969 through a legislative act by the Government of Punjab, the board originally operated from Chandigarh. In 1987, the board's headquarters were shifted to its own complex in SAS Nagar (Mohali). Over the decades, PSEB has evolved from a mere examination body to a comprehensive educational authority that designs textbooks and develops pedagogical frameworks for schools across the state.

PSEB exercises jurisdiction solely over the state of Punjab. It grants affiliation to various categories of schools, including:

The PSEB Class 10 (Matriculation) exam follows a comprehensive evaluation system. The key components include:

• Subjects: Punjabi (A & B), English, Mathematics, Science, Social Studies, and an elective subject.
• Marking Scheme: Most papers are for 100 marks, divided into Theory (70-80 marks) and Internal Assessment/CCE (20-30 marks).
• Grading: A 9-point grading system is used, ranging from A+ to E.

The Class 12 (Senior Secondary) examinations are conducted for three main streams: Science, Commerce, and Humanities. The evaluation includes:

• Theory Exams: Conducted for 70 to 80 marks depending on the practical nature of the subject.
• Practicals: Subjects like Physics, Chemistry, and Biology involve significant practical marks.
• CCE: Continuous and Comprehensive Evaluation marks are uploaded by schools.

The PSEB 2026 Board Exams are expected to follow the traditional annual cycle:

To appear for the PSEB 2026 exams, students must meet the following criteria:

• Regular Students: Must be enrolled in a PSEB-affiliated school and maintain at least 75% attendance.
• Private Candidates: Must register through the board's portal within the stipulated deadlines.
• Registration: Schools usually handle the registration process for regular students in the 9th and 11th grades.

To pass the PSEB examinations, a student must secure a minimum of 33% marks in both theory and practical exams separately, as well as in the aggregate. Results are typically announced in May or June.
