About MBOSE
The Meghalaya Board of School Education (MBOSE) is the primary regulatory body for school education in the state of Meghalaya, India. Established to regulate, supervise, and control school education, MBOSE is responsible for conducting the Secondary School Leaving Certificate (SSLC) and the Higher Secondary School Leaving Certificate (HSSLC) examinations.
MBOSE is committed to providing quality education and ensuring a standardized evaluation process for students across the state. You can find more details on the official MBOSE website.
MBOSE - History & Background
MBOSE was set up as per the Meghalaya Board of School Education Act, 1973. Initially, it was established to handle the SSLC exam, but after 1996, when the North Eastern Hill University (NEHU) discontinued the Pre-University course, MBOSE took over the responsibility of conducting the HSSLC examinations as well.
The board's headquarters is located in Tura, making it one of the few state boards in India with a headquarters outside the state capital. However, it also maintains a regional office in the capital city, Shillong.
Affiliated Schools & States Under MBOSE
MBOSE has jurisdiction over all schools located within the state of Meghalaya. This includes:
