About BSEAP
The Board of Secondary Education, Andhra Pradesh (BSEAP), also known as the Directorate of Government Examinations, Andhra Pradesh, is an independent agency working under the Ministry of Secondary Education, Government of Andhra Pradesh. Established in 1953, it is responsible for supervising and regulating the system of secondary education in the state.
The board conducts the Secondary School Certificate (SSC) examinations twice a year—once for the regular stream in March/April and again for the vocational/supplementary stream in May/June. BSEAP is recognized for maintaining high academic standards and ensuring the integrity of the public examination system in Andhra Pradesh. More information can be found on the official BSEAP website.
BSEAP - History & Background
BSEAP was established shortly after the formation of the Andhra state in 1953. Over the decades, it has evolved from a small administrative body into a comprehensive educational board managing millions of students. Following the bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh in 2014, the board's headquarters was shifted to Vijayawada/Guntur to better serve the truncated state.
Historically, the board has been a pioneer in implementing the Continuous and Comprehensive Evaluation (CCE) pattern in South India, aimed at reducing the mental pressure on students during final board exams.
Affiliated Schools & States Under BSEAP
The Board of Secondary Education, Andhra Pradesh, has jurisdiction strictly over the state of Andhra Pradesh. It governs several types of educational institutions, including:
- Government Schools
- Zilla Parishad Schools
- Municipal Schools
- Aided Schools
- Private Unaided Schools
All schools offering the SSC curriculum within the 26 districts of Andhra Pradesh must be affiliated with BSEAP to register students for the board examinations.
